Expertly designed by Raffaele Giovine, this exquisite grand plateau features a lively Tarantella dance performed in a picturesque landscape with a building in the backdrop. Accompanied by musicians, the scene is bordered by intricate gold and gold-relief details.
Circa 1830-1835, Poulard Prad period
According to Angela Carola-Perrotti, the 'Tarantella' scene is one of Saverio della Gatta's most acclaimed compositions and a popular subject in Raffaele Giovine's work, who was a renowned porcelain painter at the time. The scene can also be seen on the 1829 'Gardiniera' table at the Museo di Capodimonte. Carola-Perrotti also mentions that the remarkable tray was a part of a different private collection and is illustrated in the same publication (op.cit. cat.no. 164).
